30/04/2008 10:28:58 AM
Glenbawn Dam was the venue for the third round of the 3DAAA NSW Series and as the levels at Glenbawn slowly rise, so too is the level of results for the Cessnock Archers.

Wet and cold conditions didn't dampen the competition as scores were slightly above average for this venue with four Cessnock members making the Top Ten Shootout, once again dominating the field.

In Male Bowhunter Open, Gerard Miles ran fourth, Steve Musgrove sixth and Geoff Chapman eigth. Male Bowhunter Release saw Mark Collins gain second, Dave Mitchell fifth and Damien Foster sixth. For Male Bowhunter Fingers, Grant Elsley was first and Dale Ward third. Male Senior Release had Jack Carney run second, while in Hunter Class, Chad McDougall was first, Gary Sweeny second, Robert Lantry on his way up the ladder finished fifth, Peter Walton eighth and Brian Sweeny eleventh.

Cameron Ward secured his maximum points for the year in Youth Male Fingers with another first place, as did Matthew McDougall in Cub Aided. Isaac McDougall had a weekend to remember with a PB and a first place in Cub Unaided.

The current Series standings are, MBO, Gerard Miles first, Geoff Chapman second and Steve Musgrove fifth. MBR, Mark Collins first, Barney Miller and Damien Foster equal fifth and Dave Mitchell ninth. MBF, Grant Elsley second and Dale Ward third. FBF has Megan Weir second and Kate Miller third. In MSR, Jack Carney is first. Hunter Class, Gary Sweeny first, Chad McDougall third, Robert Lantry eigth, Brian Sweeny tenth, Lee Smith twelfth, Peter Walton fourteenth, and Sam Sweeny seventeenth. YMF, Cameron Ward first. Cub Aided, Matthew McDougall first and in Cub Unaided Isaac McDougall first.

This will be the last time these series standings will be published until the results from the nationals in November are known.

Cessnock Archers next club shoot will be on Saturday starting at 12.30pm, (note the earlier start) at our club grounds at Elrington.

This meet was to be held on May 17 but was altered due to the late inclusion of the Wingen Matchplay event on that weekend.
